Careful, safe wax removal by registered audiologists, using the method that suits your ears — not a one-size-fits-all machine.

Ear wax (cerumen) is a natural protective layer — slightly acidic, it traps dirt and dust and keeps bacteria at bay. It slowly works its way out of the ear over the course of a year: it takes 12 months to travel just 2.4cm.
For some of us it doesn't move out and fall away — it stays, accumulates and eventually blocks the canal: dulled hearing, irritation, and that unpleasant blocked feeling. It may be the size and shape of your ear canals, or excess production. Everybody is unique.
Olive oil spray or drops can soften wax and sometimes let it clear naturally. If not, it needs removing — and the safest way is a qualified practitioner. Our audiologists are HCPC-registered and follow British Society of Audiology guidance on aural care.
Use olive oil spray or drops for a few days beforehand — it lubricates the skin and the wax, making removal easier and more comfortable. You'll get an information sheet by email when you book.
They push wax back down the canal and stop its natural outward journey. We regularly see cotton ends stuck in ears — and in extreme cases, a damaged ear drum.
Not effective, and can be dangerous: all candles produce wax when burnt, and candling commonly causes burns to the outer ear and the delicate skin inside the canal.
