Assistive Listening Devices

Sometimes, depending on the hearing loss or if in a challenging listening situations, hearing aids need extra help. We have a full range of products that can be used alongside hearing aids to give your hearing an extra boost. Some hearing losses mean that even with hearing aids, it can be hard to follow conversations unless spoken to directly. An additional discreet piece of equipment such as a remote microphone can make a big difference to ease of listening. These work with the hearing aids to give a louder clearer signal allowing you to hear well at home, the TV, in the car and in places where there is more noise. Dizziness and Balance Problems

Vertigo can be debilitating. Arising from a problem within the balance organs of the inner ear, vertigo can be life altering and for those suffering from balance issues, it may seem there is no escape.

We have links with Amy Lennox of the Hypatia Dizziness and Balance Clinic who can diagnose and treat balance issues. They will assess your difficulties and create an individualised rehabilitation plan to help you get back on your feet.

Bone Anchored Hearing Aids (BAHA)

If you struggle to wear conventional aids or, have a conductive hearing loss, or a unilateral one-sided hearing loss, you may have been offered a bone anchored hearing aid. New technology from Medel allows us to fit temporary BAHA hearing aid technology without the need for an invasive operation.

The ADHEAR hearing aid works through a stick on abutment which is changed weekly allowing you to carry on enjoying good hearing with no need to manage the abutment site, no worries of infection and no operations.

Cochlear Implants

Should your hearing levels be within the severe or profound category, a cochlear implant might be an option. This amazing technology allows an electrical array placed via an operation, within the cochlear or organ of hearing to send information to the hearing nerve. This can allow a level of hearing only ever dreamt of by many people struggling with a profound hearing loss. At Lakeland Hearing we have links with the Richard Ramsden Centre for Hearing Implants at Manchester Royal Infirmary and would be happy to discuss options and referrals if this is something that interests you.
