Meet the Team
Vicky Kirkwood
Audiologist and Registered Hearing Aid Dispenser
I started my career in 1989 in the NHS and after a few years moved on to work for Oticon a major hearing aid manufacturer. It was exciting to be part of their launch of the world’s first digital hearing aid in 1994.
Seeing how digital hearing technology revolutionised a person’s hearing ability and wanting to allow as many people as possible to benefit from it, I set up Lakeland Hearing in 2002.
I enjoy keeping up to date with the fantastic technology that is available in today’s modern hearing aids and I gain a great deal of satisfaction in helping people regain their hearing and ability to re-connect with their world.
Madeleine Benson
Audiologist and Registered Hearing Aid Dispenser
After an undergraduate degree at Newcastle University, I gained a distinction in my Post Graduate Diploma in Audiology from Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh. I went on to work in the Scottish Borders for NHS Scotland.
During a career break I had my two children and spent time living in New Zealand. I then gained my qualification to become a Registered Hearing Aid Dispenser and started work with Vicky at Lakeland Hearing in 2019.
As well as dispensing hearing aids, I take a special interest in tinnitus management and I am keen to develop this service further at Lakeland Hearing.
